This piece is my reaction to Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and the many others for whom the #Icantbreathe movement was created.
In 1964, Norman Rockwell painted, "The Problem We All Live With". It depicts Ruby Bridges on her way to her first day at an all-white elementary school. She's escorted by four white deputy U.S. marshals.
By pulling Ruby from 1960 to today, I wanted to speak to the racial injustice that still plagues us.
This piece was accepted in Communication Arts’ 2016 exhibition.
